The Peace Officers Memorial Foundation of Cook County, Illinois is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that is dedicated to honoring all law enforcement officers that were killed in the line of duty in Cook County by building a police memorial. To date, over 670 officers from police agencies that operate everyday in Cook County have died while serving the citizens of this great county.

The foundation is working very hard to raise $3 million in order to build this monument. We have reached agreement with the Board of Commissioners of the Cook County Forest Preserve District for them to donate property upon which to build. It will be located in the Cermak Woods Forest Preserve located in west suburban Lyons, Il. Our volunteers have been helping in our fundraising efforts to raise this money through private and corporate contributions. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

We ask your help in our fundraising. By participating in the Run for the Cops event, you are helping raise dollars that are critical to the successful completion of our memorial. Please help by asking your family, friends and co-workers to sponsor your race or make a contribution towards your participation that will benefit the memorial.

This is a most worthy cause and we need your support. Please help in any way you can. For more information, you may contact the foundation at (708) 424-6749 or at POMFCC@AOL.COM. Thank you.
